My team and I conducted multiple meetings and site visits with Circle Care Clinic鈥檚 business director Joe Hawayek, immersing ourselves in the clinic鈥檚 daily operations to understand its strengths and areas for improvement. We also received great feedback from Mr. Hawayek: 鈥淧artnering with the Costello MBA program has been a transformative experience for Circle Care Clinic. Their insightful analysis and strategic recommendations have provided us with a clear roadmap for enhancing our services and expanding our footprint in the UAE healthcare landscape.鈥澛

Recommendations聽

At Circle Care Clinic

Our top recommendation was expanding the services offered by Circle Care Clinic. Recognizing the growing trend and necessity of digital healthcare, we proposed integrating telemedicine services for specific specialties such as dermatology. This addition would broaden the clinic's reach and cater to the increasing demand for convenient and accessible healthcare options. Furthermore, we suggested introducing additional specialties and expanding current ones to attract a wider patient base and provide more comprehensive care. Specialties such as dermatology, women鈥檚 health, and orthopedics were highlighted as potential growth areas based on our market research.聽

Our analysis also covered the strategic expansion of Circle Care Clinic to a third and fourth location within the UAE. We identified optimal locations based on demographic trends, population density, and competition analysis. The recommended sites were selected to ensure maximum accessibility and convenience for potential patients, aiming to solidify Circle Care Clinic's presence in the region. The expansion strategy included detailed plans for resource allocation, marketing, and phased implementation to ensure sustainable growth.聽

Takeaways聽

Sightseeing in the desert

This consulting project with Circle Care Clinic in Dubai provided us with valuable insights into international business and healthcare. Our team demonstrated analytical prowess and strategic thinking, contributing to the clinic's vision of exceptional healthcare services. In order to be an officer for the fund, students must apply and interview with Derek Horstmeyer. 鈥淭he main thing that made me want to apply for this officer position was Dr. Horstmeyer, like the way he teaches and how he鈥檚 so invested in it,鈥 says Clarita Orosco, vice president of the risk committee. 鈥淚t made me excited to learn more.鈥

The SMIF has attracted the attention of some of the business school鈥檚 most ambitious finance students. 鈥淚 thought this was a great way for me to get involved on campus, pursue my own interests, and learn more by talking to other finance students and hearing their ideas and different perspectives,鈥 says Sriprajna Medicherla, president of the operations and finance committee. 鈥淚n finance it鈥檚 all about perspective and figuring out what the best decision is given the information.鈥 Medicherla and a few of her teammates got to hear even more perspectives when they went to Chicago for a competition with about fifty other student managed investment fund groups from other universities. 鈥淢eeting other SMIF officers from different universities was really interesting and so was hearing their ideas about what they implemented in the fund,鈥 she says.

It is not required to be a finance concentration or even a business major to take part in the SMIF. Gabriel Curtis, president of the risk committee, who is majoring in computer science and minoring in finance, had been exploring ways in which he could make an impact in areas besides computer science. 鈥淚n finance there鈥檚 a lot of opportunities to be a generalist, and that鈥檚 honestly what I care about a lot more,鈥 he says.

Every year, the SMIF鈥檚 officers present the annual report to the Board of Trustees, showing what was in the portfolio and how everything performed. 鈥淵ou get real world experience with them that you probably wouldn鈥檛 find in a typical finance course,鈥 says Lindholm. The ability to manage a real investment fund while receiving active feedback in a classroom setting is an experience that benefits all of the participants, regardless of their career ambitions. 鈥淚 would say I was able to be more informed,鈥 says Curtis. 鈥淚鈥檝e gotten to talk to people who graduated and work in investment banking. That鈥檚 where I鈥檓 headed now because of the fund.鈥 Orosco adds, 鈥淚 didn鈥檛 realize how many opportunities there were and how many news things Dr. Horstmeyer wanted us to explore.鈥澛

The networking, knowledge, and confidence that these students have acquired through working on the Montano Student Investment Fund have given them the immersive student experience promised at the Costello College of Business. 鈥淭his much responsibility shows through on their resumes 鈥 past officers of the SMIF have gone on to work at Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and private equity shops in New York City, Chicago, and Austin,鈥 says Horstmeyer. Not only are the student leaders prepared for their careers but they are actively being recruited by employers.

Topics

Topics

Costello College of Business News

Accounting Area Page

Costello College of Business Students

黑料社 Foundation

Student Managed Investment Fund

Students

Alumni

Learn more about the Montano Student Investment Fund

Give to the Montano Student Investment Fund

In This Story

People Mentioned in This Story

Derek Horstmeyer

Thu, 21 Mar 2024 20:28:24 +0000 Greg Johnson 111191 at
